The Honorary Consulate of Azerbaijan in Melbourne within “Justice for Khojaly” international awareness campaign hosted a commemorative event.
The event were attended by Australian MPs including MP from Melbourne Julian Hill, members of the interparliamentary friendship group, Azerbaijanis living in Melbourne, public figures, representatives of mass media and city residents.
The Chairman of Azerbaijan-Australia interparliamentary working group, MP from Azerbaijan Khanlar Fatiyev and the Chairman of Democratic Reforms Party Asim Mollazade have also participated at the event. While delivering speech Asim Mollazade emphasized the importance of the "Justice for Khojaly" international awareness campaign initiated by the Vice-President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs.Leyla Aliyeva. Further, he demanded international court-martial for the committers of the Khojaly genocide.
The former Australian Minister Alan Griffin mentioned the role of Azerbaijan in the world and the region. Recalling his visit to Azerbaijan, Griffin stated that Azerbaijan is very modern, tolerant and multicultural state. In addition, he claimed that Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be resolved only within international legal norms and all refugees must return to their Motherland.
