A group of French parliamentarians have addressed an open letter to President Emmanuel Macron urging him to intervene and put pressure on Armenia to comply with resolutions of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly demanding the complete, immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Armenian troops from the occupied lands of Azerbaijan.
The plea came as a 2-year old Azerbaijani toddler and her grandmother died when the Armenian troops shelled a village in Azerbaijan. The two died when a shell hit a house in the village of Alkhanli in the Fizuli area of Azerbaijan on July 4. A second woman was wounded.
The appeal to the President of France accused Armenia of violating international law for 25 years.
The document says that over 1 million Azerbaijanis were forcibly expelled from their homes as a result of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The appeal also accused Armenia of conducting ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis and committing Khojaly genocide. “20% territory of Azerbaijan has been occupied as a result of the Armenian military aggression.”
