The Herald News published an appeal by Larry White, a friend of the Azerbaijani community, on the Khojaly genocide.
The article says that February 26, 2020 is the 28th anniversary of the terrible crime committed against humanity by the Armenian armed forces in the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.
It is noted that on February 25-26, 1992, the Armenian armed forces, supported by the 366th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the former Soviet Army, attacked the besieged city of Khojaly and killed ethnic Azerbaijanis living there. It is reported that 613 civilians were killed, including 106 women, 63 children and 70 elderly people.
The article says that several countries and more than twenty American states have recognized the Khojaly massacre.
At the end of the appeal, it is stated that the US government should stand with Washington's strategic ally Azerbaijan and put pressure on Armenia to withdraw its army from the occupied Azerbaijani territories in accordance with international law and apologize for the Khojaly massacre.
This material is based on the annual campaign of the US Azerbaijanis Network to inform the American public about the Khojaly massacre.
