A commemorative event was held in the Hague with regards to the 31st anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
At the event organized by the Dutch Azerbaijani-Turkish Culture Association and supported by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Netherlands, the memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide was commemorated. Ambassador of Azerbaijan Rahman Mustafayev, staff of the embassy, Ambassador of Turkey to the Netherlands Selcuk Unal, member of the council of the Christian Democratic Challenge party for the South Holland region, Michael Roxier, and members of the Azerbaijani and Turkish communities living in this country visited the Khojaly monument.
Ambassadors of Azerbaijan and Turkey laid wreaths in front of the Khojaly monument. The participants of the ceremony spoke about the merciless killing of the civilian population by the armed forces of Armenia and emphasized that it was a crime against humanity.
The memorial ceremony continued with the speech of the head of the Netherlands-Azerbaijan Turkish Culture Association, Ilhan Ashkin, who spoke about the Khojaly massacre.
Ambassador Rahman Mustafayev stressed the importance of mobilizing all efforts for the sake of justice for Khojaly. He underlined his certainty that the perpetrators of the genocide will be brought to justice.
Ambassador Selcuk Unal emphasized that the Turkish people are always with Azerbaijan and share the sadness and joy of our people.
In his speech, Michael Roksier, member of the council of the Christian Democratic Challenge party for the South Holland region, emphasized the importance of giving political and legal assessments of the Khojaly genocide.
At the event, prayers were read for the souls of the Khojaly martyrs.
