On February 22, 2018, on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Khojaly genocide the international conference and presentation of the book translated into Bosnian “The children that did not grow up” by Elshad Eyvazli was held at the International Sarajevo University in the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, with the organizational support of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The event was attended by academicians, prominent international law experts, public figures, member of parliaments and representatives of NGOs, diplomatic corps and mass media from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, and Azerbaijan.
The conference speakers were Rector of IUS Tahsin Erkan Ture, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Bosnia and Herzegovina Prof. Dr. Eldar Hasanov, author of the book Elshad Eyvazli, Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of working group on the inter-parliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Chingiz Ganizade, Member of Writers Association of BiH, Serbia and Montenegro, Member of “Circle 99”, Assoc. Prof. Dr. & Dr. Honoris Causa Sabahudin Hadžialić, Professor of the Sarajevo University, Doctor of Law Edin Halapić, eyewitnesses of Khojaly massacre Sabina Maharramova and Murad Huseynov.
The panelists spoke about the sudden attack by the armed forces of Armenia on the Khojaly city in the Nagorno Karabakh region of Azerbaijan at night from February 25 to February 26 in 1992, as well as cruel and merciless killing, severe wounding, taking hostage, torturing and making to go missing of the civilian population of Khojaly town. They underlined also the following points: the crime perpetrated in Khojaly was a part of the systematic violence policy of Armenia against Azerbaijani civilians; this policy is founded on the nzhdeizm ideology which inculcates racial superiority of Armenians and hatred against Azerbaijanis; the events in Khojaly must be classified as a crime of genocide; and Armenia and its political-military leadership bear responsibility for this crime in accordance with the international law.
