Mayor of the Portland city of the U.S. state of Maine Kathleen M. Snyder signed a statement declaring February 26, 2021, the Day of Remembrance for the victims of the Khojaly massacre.
The statement refers to the 29th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, notes that the tragedy is one of the largest massacres committed against humanity. It was noted that the Khojaly massacre is one of the crimes against humanity in the world.
The adoption of such a statement in Maine can be regarded as a significant success of the US Azerbaijanis on the eve of the anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
